Unfinished Story

A short story i will probaly never finish, Enjoy

------------------------------------------------

I didn’t know where they came from or what they were and to be honest I didn’t care in the slightest, all that mattered now was that they were here and had to be stopped. The planet of terra had fallen many years back, nations tried to fight them off but failed and one by one they collapsed like a house of cards until only we and a few pockets of human survivors remained. The humans had thrown every weapon they had at them from nuclear to biological and chemical attacks, but they all failed. The aliens still held the trump cards, they were faster, stronger, breed quickly and lethal in any environment but worst of all they did not fear death. Each and every individual was willing to die for the greater good of the hive.
But now it was left up to us, with the human race in tatters we had to kill them and claim the planet for ourselves, they had done us the favour of killing of the humans but we were left with a much more hostile enemy, the Aliens.
We swiftly moved forwards down the abandoned high street of a forgotten town, the buildings were in a serious state of disrepair, and cars littered the streets in a hap hazard fashion. Every once in a while you would encounter the corpse of someone lucky enough to die instead of being captured and implanted with one of the aliens infants
We had split into two groups of four. Vitalik, Aristarh, Talazar and Verdana took the left hand pavement and I, Fin, Korim and Lena took the right we each wore our standard armour of a Carbon Nanotube trench coat designed to stop even the most powerful of bullets and explosives at close range, under that we each wore almost thirty five to fifty kilograms of Poly Graphite Carbide armour that would stop anything that penetrated the trench coat. Our weapons consisted of AP case less rifles and some of the stronger men carried pump action Light gas guns capable of blasting a head sized hold in a foot of concrete but what could be considered the most unusual weapon we carried was a meter long blade at our sides, it was a Nano sharpened blade capable of cleaving through most things including our very own armour.
Our Destination was an old cinema less than a hundred meters away where we believed a queen had setup a hive but so far we had not sighted any aliens, weather they were hiding or simply just not there was unknown. They gave off no heat and could remain motionless. Their black exoskeleton simply made it that much harder to see them.
The lead soldier Korim raised his hand signalling us to stop and crouch and we followed his orders like obedient dogs on a leash.
“Something isn’t right here” said Korim nervously over the radio
“You mean why haven’t we been tore limb from limb yet don’t you” said Aristarh
“Pretty much yea, they should be all over us by now”
“Maybe there out to lunch?” mocked Lena
“Weather they are or not, we have our orders people. Let’s go” ordered Korim signalling everyone to rise and move forwards
There was once again silence over the radio, it was understandable that everyone was nervous, except Lena it seemed, and the creatures had recently killed an entire pauldron of soldiers here. This time we had fewer soldiers but we were better trained and better equipped.
Eventually we rounded a corner and gained sight of our destination. What had used to be a cinema was no more, the walls were covered in some black shit and the pattern mimicked the bowls of a rotting carcase. I could sense everyone becoming tenser merely at the sight of the atrocity.
“Doesn’t appear anyone is home, maybe you were right Lena” said fin
“Hope not, It’s been too long since I had a good fight” said Lena cheerfully
Everyone except Korim turned and looked at Lena suspiciously.
“What?” said Lena slightly bemused as to why we were all staring at her. She was a good soldier but I was certain she had blown a fuse a long time back.
We moved a mere walking pace towards the oval entrance one step at a time, one wrong move and we would all be dead or worse, strung up on the walls of the queens antechamber as living hosts for more of them.
“Ignore Lena” said Korim “She’s due a psycho evaluation when we return”
Now it was Lena’s turn to look bemused “I’m not am I?”
Korim turned to face her for a moment “You are now”
We were at the entrance now, the top of it more than twice the height of a average man
“Asses and heads people, they can come from a any direction and we only want the one sample” said Korim putting on a brave face stepping over the boundary into the hive.
